"The Lupa" is located in Piumazzo, on the border between the provinces of Modena and Bologna in the vicinity of the remains of Canetolo Castle in an unurbanized geographical area, entirely immersed in the farmland countryside that when Spring begins one can find a rare spectacular of beauty owing to the charming stretch of blossoming fruit trees. Thanks to its strategic position "The Lupa" is still very close to a number of extremely interesting tourist routes. The etymology of the name which is somewhat symbolic, finds its roots among the medieval toponymy, "Mazzalova" or "Mazzalupi". The story recollects a wild impenetrable wolf which roamed aggressively in the area frightening the locals. The castle warden killed the wolf, after this fact, which took on, in time, the fascination of the legend. This area was named "Mazzalupa" , a word which indicates the enclosed trap wherein the wild beast was captured and which was found precisely where the farmhouse now lies. "The Lupa" was opened in 1989, it was a rural complex dating from the 19th century. The perfect and accurate renovation of the farmhouse has enhanced the rusticity of the original architecture, emphasising the charm of the past splendour.
